Job Description
Reports to: Site Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Department/Site: Patient Financial Services
Major Functions:
Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Translator individual is to assist the clinical staff by translating and coordinating care to patients on the provider’s daily schedule and by proactively managing and coordinating care for patients not on the schedule. Will perform duties that will assist the providers to coordinate the patient’s care which includes patient logs.
The Translator will perform duties that include maintaining a positive image of the office, communicating patient and office needs, and maintaining files. Expected to maintain a professional environment at all times. Ability to perform other related duties will be required as needed.
Essential Functions:
Interact with patients to ensure that the check-in and check-out process is carried out efficiently.
Review provider schedules to coordinate care for visits and for follow up visits.
Handle non-appointment related calls from patients. Revolve the reason for the call or route to the appropriate party.
Provide and effective communication link between the patient and medically staff, including relaying messages from providers, gathering information from patients for providers, etc.
Enter patient demographic information with an expected accuracy rate of 97%.
Perform insurance verifications, income verifications with an expected accuracy rate of
97%.
Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, cleaning work space, and assisting managers and supervisors as needed.
Ensure that all patients are tracked and data entered into systems for follow-up and reporting.
Periodically audit patient records for accuracy.
Assist in coordination of care with pharmacies, insurance companies and other providers in the community. Ensure that information goes when and where it is needed.
Act as a back-up to the other Receptionist both at main sites and school based clinics.
Ability to handle protected information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Maintain positive image of clinic. Assist in the organization and execution of community events.
Maintain office records and logs as directed by your supervisor.
May be responsible for maintaining and securing patient medical records.
May be responsible for petty cash, insurance billing, and general deposits.
Plus all other related duties in coordination with Health Center Operations.
Performs other work related duties as necessary.
HIPPA:
The Translator will have access to PHI during the course of his/her work activities. The
Translator will use this information to prepare both patients and medical records for visits with the provider and to keep the flow of work going smoothly in the Health Center. Applying the minimum necessary standard of HIPAA, the designated records sets to which this employee will have access include: the full medical record and the current electronic health records system in use.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Prefer working knowledge of cash accounting; collection procedures, and posting techniques.
Ability to type and work with personal computers.
Familiarity or capacity to become familiar with CPT and diagnosis codes.
Pleasant disposition and speaking voice.
Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work under stress and get along with all types of personalities.
Demonstrated problem solving skills in a complex environment.
Basic level of skill with Microsoft Office and ability to use other required software
(NextGen and etc…).

Relationships: Directly responsible to the Revenue Recycle Manager, with frequent or continuous contact with Billing, Chief Operating Officer, Administrative Secretary, Medical
Director, and Nursing Supervisor requesting organizational elements, department heads, receiving parties and vendors.
Educational/Skills:
1. High school diploma or the equivalent. Two years’ experience including one year of patient billing.
Mental Demands:
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to assist in proper maintenance and oversight of purchasing and procurement systems. Must demonstrate ability to follow front desk policy and procedures as outlined in the front desk manual.
Physical Demands:
Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination, ability for grasping and speed work. Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation and walk. Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, left and carry, push, pull, or lift in excess of 10 lbs. Requires manual dexterity to sufficient to type at least 50 wpm, telephone etiquette, and the ability to operate office equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
