Duties
- This position requires a positive attitude, professional demeanor and great work ethic.
- Assist veterinarian with all tasks
- Handling and restraint of cats and dogs during examination and treatment
- Administer medication
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures
- Greeting families, answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing payments and assisting families throughout the day with various needs and requests
- Complete follow up calls and manage email account
- Maintain a clean and presentable lobby space, as well as assist with cleaning other clinic areas
- Ensure schedules are set up correctly for the next week
- Ensure pharmacy inventory is maintained at adequate levels
- Perform office managerial tasks, as needed
- Provide instruction and direction to less-experienced veterinary assistants
- Check-in/out of clients
- Assist with social media, events, offers/promotions, as requested

Animal experience
- Low-stress restraint and handling of cats and dogs
- Familiarity with vaccination schedules, as age appropriate
- Knowledge of common illnesses among companion animals
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- General knowledge of zoonotic diseases
- Sample collection, preparation, and identification of common parasites via fecal flotation
- Venipuncture technique, sample handling, and preparation of whole blood for analysis
- Sample collection for urinalysis, preparation for microscopic evaluation / USG
- Familiarity with antibiotics, analgesics, and preventive medications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
