Job description
Overview:Under the direction of the Rehab Director, the SLP evaluates, plans, identifies, assesses, interprets, diagnoses, and administers medically prescribed speech therapy treatment to patients. Selects and executes procedures for screening and assessment of speech, language, oral pharyngeal function, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders; formulates, carries out, and documents plan of care throughout the continuum of care in the inpatient and outpatient setting, and encompasses pediatric through geriatric populations. The SLP educates patients, family/caregivers and staff regarding impairments of speech, language, swallowing, and cognition disorders.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates patients by utilizing specialized testing procedures and skills, incorporating data from the medical record, and individualy assessment. Manages the plan of care through consultation with MD. Set goals and develops appropriate treatment plans as determined from the outcome of the assessments. Evaluates patient's equipment needs. Incorporates discharge planning into treatment planning.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an Accredited Speech-Language Therapy Program with a Master’s Degree.
Inpatient and outpatient speech therapy experience in an acute hospital and/or rehabilitation department and/or outpatient clinic setting preferred; may consider a new grad.
Ability to perform videofluroscopy study preferred.
Current California Speech/Language Pathologist License Required.
BCLS certificate required.
