In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Thrust Chamber Stress Analyst for Propulsion to promote HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs.

The Thrust Chamber Stress Analyst will boost the HLS Propulsion Team with development of the human lander system propulsion subsystem. The candidate's primarily responsibility includes analysis of the thrust chamber assembly. The candidate will interface with subsystem design leads and other subsystem analysts/engineers. The position requires an understanding and application of analytical methods, finite element models and simulations, and other analysis tools to produce models and perform analyses for a variety of aerospace related products. This includes hand calculations as well as detailed stress analyses utilizing standard industry software programs. The analyst will work in a team environment to support conceptual design through product implementation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute.
  • Candidates will have at least four (4) years of structural analysis experience with aerospace hardware.
  • Candidates will also have work history with one or more of the structural analysis tools: Femap, NASTRAN, Abaqus and/or ANSYS software.
  • Candidates will be able to write technical reports and to present results to a multi-disciplined team.
  • Candidates will have experience communicating within a team environment.

Candidates must be residents of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates may possess a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute. Preferred candidates may have experience and/or knowledge of the following:

  • Working knowledge of Femap, NASTRAN, Abaqus and/or ANSYS software
  • Experience within the aerospace industry
  • Performing analysis on Flight Hardware and/or Ground Support Equipment

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
